Unlike conventional gabions, our ACHAT baskets do not need to be assembled, as they are welded and equipped with a hinged lid. Installation is done like a dry stone wall up to 1.0 m height on a compacted gravel bed. From 1.5 m height, the lower part of the basket is concreted in place. For additional structural stability, a galvanized square tube can be invisibly inserted within the stones in the center of the basket using a foundation.
The finished basket modules are always 1.04 m wide and have an ideal filling depth of approx. 22 cm. The baskets are available in stock in 3 heights up to a maximum of 1.50 m. To achieve fillings with smaller grain sizes such as gravel or grit, simply use our hot-dip galvanized mesh (GACGR) with a wire thickness of 0.8 mm and a mesh size of 12.7 x 12.7 mm as an inner template. This is offered in 1.0 m height and 25.0 m length on a roll.
