The ONYX gabion column stands out due to its hexagonal shape and can be used and filled individually. It is available with a depth of 360 mm, an edge length of 200 mm, and heights ranging from 1,000 mm to 2,400 mm.
The gabion column is made in one piece, permanently closed with welding points between each horizontal wire, and can be filled with pebbles, alpine stones, sandstone, coarse aggregates, dark brown or turquoise glass.
Gabion columns can either be concreted in place or mounted on a foundation with a base plate. Ideally, the columns are embedded 60 cm deep, so the height of the column should be chosen accordingly.
ONYX provides the highest corrosion protection through hot-dip galvanization according to EN ISO 1461 and, for RAL colors, through additional powder coating. For a hot-dip galvanized gabion column, under normal weather conditions, it can be expected that the protective zinc layer lasts for 30 years.
If the gabion columns are additionally coated in RAL colors, the protection is extended by many more years.
Applications
Columns and stone fillings of the gabion fence systems can be combined individually – creativity has no limits: whether as a solitary decoration outdoors, as posts for wooden elements, double-wire mesh or privacy panels, or in combination with two parallel panels as a stone wall.
